Here are the key dates you need to know to participate in the program this year:

Entries open: August 1, 2009

Entry Deadline: September 30, 2009

Awards Presentation: November 30, 2009

Use the list of frequently asked questions below to find out all you need to know about the program, the award categories and how to download and submit your applications forms.

1.

What award categories can I apply for?

Contact Centre of the Year:  This award recognizes the company that is doing the right things right: from attracting and retaining high quality staff to delivering top quality customer service.

2.

I applied for an award previously but wasn’t successful, can I apply again this year?

Absolutely, YES!  Each year we receive dozens of high quality applications and the hardest part for the judges is that there can only be one award winner in each category.  Don’t be discouraged – tune up your application and submit it for this year’s awards.

Also, if you have won an award in previous years you are still eligible to submit an application this year. New year, new ballgame.

3

How are the awards judged?

A panel of three judges reviews each application.  Each judge gives the application a score out of 100 and then the three scores are added up to determine the winner in each category.  Our judging panel this year includes Donna Miller, CEO of Contact Centre Canada, Sandra Sharples of Geode Consulting Group and Murray Hoban, consultant with First Call Specific. For the Contact Centre of the Year award the top three go on to a second round of judging which includes a customer satisfaction survey and employee survey conducted independently by SQM Group.

4

How much does it cost to submit an application?

There is no cost to apply for a BCCCA Award.  The program is open to all members of the association and is a benefit of your membership.  With the help of our generous sponsors, the association covers all the costs of running the awards program.

5

How long should my application be?

Unlike the essays you submitted when you were going to school, we don’t judge the award applications by weight.  Each application form consists of a number of questions about your organization or employee that we would like answered.  There are word limit guidelines of 500 words for each question.  Take the time to be thorough but don’t send in a whole book about your organization.  Remember the old saying: “I would have sent you a shorter letter, but I didn’t have the time (to edit).”

A few of your best photos in support of your application are great but every picture you have taken at every staff function is too much.  Same goes with letters of support – send copies of the best and save the rest.

6

I have some great employees in my organization, how do I make their nominations stand out?

One of the best ways to make your nomination for Employee of the Year stand out is to think of this as more than an annual performance review.  The most successful employee nominations in past years have told a compelling story of how and why a particular person is a valuable member of the team.  Their accomplishments are highlighted and their contributions are well documented.  After reading the nominations all you can think is “How can I get this person working for me?”

Pick your star(s) and make it your mission to convince us that they are the next BCCCA Idol.

New for 2009 – Although there can be only one Award winner, all nominees for Contact Centre Employee of the Year will be entered into a grand prize draw.  (Now, if we told you what the prize was, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore would it?)

7

Do I have to be present at the Awards Gala to win my award?

No, you don’t have to be present to win but we can GUARANTEE that you will have a whole lot more fun if you are.  The Awards will be announced and presented at a gala dinner on Monday, November 30.  With great food, good company and Vancouver Theatresports on hand to provide hilarious, unscripted and unpredictable entertainment, how can you not have fun?  Bring your whole team for some pre-Christmas fun and reward them for their hard work during a challenging 2009.
